Special Olympics

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."

Created by the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation

Yesterday was Special Olympics in our county... I have been a Special Ed Aide for many years, this is a very special day for our children... We had an incredible day with the kids...
This was the parade of athletes

Everyone with their wide smiles ready to compete and bring home the Gold.... and they all did their very best. We sat in the stands with Parents, Brothers and Sisters, Grand Parents, Aunts and Uncles to cheer all our athletes on. Screaming at the top of our lungs as each of them ran their events. They did Track and Field events, played Bocce Ball and Tennis, while the little ones had games to play and all the wheel chairs lined up to toss the ball to see how far they could throw.... A picnic lunch was served to everyone, they sat on the field with their buddies eating, laughing and just having a wonderful day... The weather was perfect, not a drop of rain. A little overcast with temperatures just right... Even though the weather forecast was for rain all day long. As we boarded our buses with all the amazing kids and all their metals, we pulled out of the parking lot and it started to sprinkle... We all smiled and said that was timing!!!

Each year we go we see so many of the children that we had in years past, how they have grown into beautiful teens and adults. Always smiling and happy....

IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

Happy May Day to all, today I fell like winter is finally over!!!

Love the quote you have up there.

Reminds me of my son's Sports'Day ..looking a lot similar like this one..

It's a pleasure watching them.

A wonderful quote--everyone should be inspired by this. Glad the sun was shining for everyone!

Hi Lynn,
What a fun day for all. We have a special needs girl in our family. She takes part in so many things that we do. The Kennedy's have really put the spotlight on these young people.I think it is Eunice Shriver, who has done so much. Thank God for people like them.
