I need help from all my garden friends!!!

Here I am at the Readers Walk Garden Booth this fall with one of the Grass Head People. We made kits up for all the kids so they could go home and make their own. We had a ball with them and the kids loved them...

So what I need is your help, I need to come up with a new idea for something like this that the kids will love, and where better to look than right here. I know some of you are bound to have some ideas for me!!!

1. We will need something that won't cost a lot to make kits with, we will be making 100+
2. Something fun for kids
3. Educational
4. With a garden theme
Look how cute they turned out and this was only after 1 week...

This was the instruction sheet we put in baggies with the grass seed...
So I am counting on you all to send ideas, pictures, links or what ever you have!!! Start thinking!!!
Thanks,
Lynn

SEEDS, SEEDS, SEEDS...

It is that time of the year again that I love! All the catalogue's are coming in the mail like crazy! My husband says he is going to start hiding them from me!!!LOL He knows I go crazy. We went to Lowe's the other night and I picked up some stuff for the herb garden and I placed a big order from Park Seed Co. it is one of my favorites... Everything came yesterday, well almost everything. I guess I will need to reorder a few things.... I can't wait until we have real baskets of veggies to eat!
Keep those seeds coming....
My daughter says the basket in the bathroom is getting too full, "I DON'T THINK SO"!!! I just love looking through them. They just remind me that winter will be over soon and I will be outside in the SUNSHINE once again!!!
Everyone have a great weekend,
Lynn

My Daughters Attic Project...

My oldest bought her first house in September, she had been living in the house for almost 5 years. but until she bought it she was unable to do any remodeling. She always wanted to do something to the attic so she would have space to do her scrap booking and not have to do it on the dinning room table. So her project started. Here it is just storage, old drywall and unfinished hardwood floors. It had great bones just needed work... So down came the drywall, she did this herself...What a job, and what a mess...

This room is about 33 ft. long, 11 ft, wide and only about 5ft.10in. high right down the center. So with a table and her sitting down she will be quite comfortable working up there! With lots of room for her craft stuff...

Her father taught her how to hang the new insulation and away she went!!!

All decked out in her work gear!!! Cute look Colleen!!!

With the insulation up it was time for drywall...

This picture was even taken before her new windows were put in.

She hired this part out, Mike my friend Jeanie's husband is GREAT at drywall... What a job he did, it turned out wonderful!!!!

Then it was time to refinish the floors, so she rented a sander and away she went. What a dusty mess!!!
Finally the windows were put in, paint went on, moldings went up and it was time to decorate. She swore in September it would be done for her Chrismas Party, December 12 and it was!!! What a difference, she did a wonderful job and learned a lot in the process!!!

They put in extra wide window sills to put plants and whatever else she wants...

This was a really nice added touch, where there had once been old doors to get into the craw space of the attic, Tom made shelves on henges so they open but you can't tell they are doors. One of those Wasted Spaces Tricks!!!

Doesn't it look great!!!

Here is the other end of the room where the steps go downstairs. The shelves on the left do the same as the ones above... I love how the lanterns look on the rail around the steps. She found a cute shelf to put decorative stuff on going down the stairs at a yard sale last summer and painted it...

I think you can see in these pictures she used antique doorknobs as tiebacks for her curtains, each one is different on the two windows and they look really great!

I think this room was a wonderful idea and she will enjoy it for years to come...

GREAT JOB COLLEEN!!!

Have a good one,

Lynn

My daughters puppies

We decided to take a trip to our daughters the other night. Tom was going to work on a little plumbing and we were going to sit in front of the fire and knit. But the dogs had something to say about that. When Cabella wants to play you play. So we gave the two of them a sock and let them play for a while. It is so funny to watch a 150 lb Mastiff put her butt in the air and set those feet as if this little 5 lb. chihuahua was going to just pull Cabella over!!! Harley is all HEART! for sure!!! She will not let go, she thinks she is the big dog, but the gentle giant plays so easy with her...

Here I am sitting on the floor with Cabella she weights as much as I do and she isn't fully grown yet...But she loves to have her picture taken, she is such a baby always wanting to lay her head on your lap so you will pet her, she is jealous of that little chihuahua always getting up on our laps...But one of her paws will crush you!!!LOL When she was a little smaller I would let her jump up on me, but this time when she started to jump I screamed like a little girl. I guess she got the message because she jumped down...

Hope the video works ok it is so funny!!!

Have a Good One,
Lynn

One magnificient Christmas Present!!!! I never expected!

Christmas was wonderful this year, it brought many surprises! This is my youngest daughter Amanda and her boyfriend JR. This time last year I bought her a sewing machine. She liked to use my machine every once in a while to do projects and decided she wanted one of her own... After making a few purses and playing around with it she bought a book on Crazy Quilts this fall. She started working on one for me, of course I had no idea what she was making, only that every time I talked to her she would say she was working on a project! And what a project, especially for a beginner!!! WOW... She isn't afraid to just try anything!!! Here I am Christmas morning covered in this beautiful Quilt. It is amazing.... I am still looking at all the different things she put on it. She really made it special with many very old pieces and lots of new things... She even made her Non Sewing Sister sew on this project!!!

(I know I'm still not looking so good in this picture, it hurt to smile!!!LOL) One of my favorites was this saying right up at the top...
Here it is laying all the way across my couch, so you can see how big it really is... All different fabrics and lots and lots of decorative stitching and buttons...

The book taught her how to do many different stitches, that she did beautifully...

Look at this ladybug and ribbon roses...

Amazing little trim...

Colleen can never say again that she can't even sew a button on!!! She got lots of practice with the beautiful "L"... she even put her initials on it!!!
And Amanda made her sew on lots of buttons all over the quilt...

I was just amazed at the detail, every time I look at it I find something new!

Look at the tiny little rose buttons on this square they are just toooo cute... She knows how much I love flowers...
Colleen had more talents than she knew, making little hearts on this square...

Queen Ann's Lace splashed across these squares is so cute...

Different laces and stitches, I can't imagine how she got this done in such a short time...

She even got my mother to embroidery a square with a cute little garden saying...
It was all the little things like this that made it so special!!!
This one is many years old done by my husbands grandmother, she was a beautiful quilter. They were found in a box of scraps a few years ago at Toms aunts house, probably extras from a quilt done years ago...
This piece was appliqued with her famous tiny tiny little stitches. Just having pieces like this in my hands is special. I can see her now with a needle in her hands, remembering how she loved to sew!

This one was done by my Mother-in-Law when she was 13 or 14 she told us. I am so excited she included these pieces into this quilt, how special this is...
The green one in the center was also done by my husbands grandmother, it also must have been an extra square. Because we have this quilt hanging on the wall in the family room.
I want to really Thank Amanda for taking so much time and thinking out all the wonderful things she incorporated into this amazing quilt. It will be a keepsake I will always cherish for many years to come! You are amazing and I Love You!!! Kiss Kiss...

Mom...
